Solarplicity director Austin Healey has expressed his concern of possibly making 600 redundancies if the proposed cuts to the feed in tariff take place.
Austin Healey is more known for being an ex-England international rugby player, however has now voiced his opinion on the effects his business could face if the feed in tariff cuts are applied.
Healy said it was “upsetting” to see installation businesses Mark Group and Climate Energy enter administration and has warned that this is just the beginning to the thousands that will lose their jobs if the proposal goes ahead.
Only a few weeks ago, Solar Trade Association announced that a total of 27,000 jobs are at risk. After this announcement Healey revealed he had visited 10 Downing Street to discuss the cuts.
The petition that requires 100,000 signatures to raise a debate about the cuts in parliament is currently just under 25,000 signatures. With a recognisable figure such as Austin Healey, perhaps this could encourage those to sign the petition, with the former England International inspiring those to help fight against the potential cuts.
